Vanished is a science mystery Alternate Reality Game that was created by the Smithsonian and the MIT Education Arcade and which ran in April and May of 2011. As a research project, Vanished is intended not only to provide an excellent experience for the youth who played the mystery in 2011, but to advance the development of online and offline educational experiences. The goal of source-vanished is to make available to the world the tools and assets created for Vanished as well as publications written after the game documenting its creation and execution.
